My favorite character in the story . When watching the movie it made pips character look more realistic. He was born poor but wanted to better himself and go out to be a gentlemen . Then he meets Estella who he can not be with because she was turn cold hearted by Miss Havisham . I do think Pip and Estella because you can tell that when they are together you can see a different side of Estella . It is like a romantic story but with a bad ending because they can not be together as much as Pip wants them to be . Miss Havisham is definitely pitiful . It is her fault the reason Estella won’t be with Pip . She made her like that to be towards men and Pip was the one who had to pay for it . He genuinely loved her but because of Miss Havisham he couldn’t be with Estella .

Dickens childhood was played out in the story of Great Expectations that was similar to his own childhood . I think he made Pip play him in the story . They both were poor and even thought Pip became in gentleman in the story , he could not be with the love of his life that was Estella . Dickens and his wife separated because of his wife’s family . Estella’s mom made her into this cold hearted person that could not fall in love . So Pip has to suffer about not being able to be with Estella like he wanted to . My guess was that he made the character Pip and Estella to in ways represent his life story with him and his wife . I think every event Dickens witness was inspired the whole novel to be played out the way it did .

Dickens response to the public execution was what any human would feel . He thought it was wrong from them to continue having execution in public . Even thought it took several years for them to stop doing public executions until it was a thing to do them with in the jails were no one would see . I think he would of thought about incarceration practices the same way . He would of thought how it was not fair from them to being treated the way they were getting treated in jails . In his response and letter that was his point of the hanging were he did not think it was fair for others to see . Today dickens would of felt some what better how things are done than before .

What I was surprised by the crime and punishments during the Victorian Era was it was not as bad as you would of thought . Every inmate had their own cel . Today inmates are all crowded up with two to three cell inmates. When you think of a jail you would think of it as being nasty and horrible place but I think that during this time having your own cell and keeping inmates from talking to each other made things less dirtier than having a jail all cramped up . Even thought executions were still public I would think they would of stopped people from watching hanging happening. Police back them seen to not many rules to follow and did their own thing so I can image that some inmates were convicted on accusations only .

The most impressive thing during the Victoria Era transportation had to be the underground railway . They had a good thing going with trains moving things through out every cities that thing started to get crazy . Simple necessities that we have now when we can just go to the store and have , they had to use trains for everything . Once they figured out the trains and how to transport things in a faster way , they had it all figured out and that’s where the underground seems impressive to me . Something completely different , they decided to move things underground to avoid the chaos that’s was happening above . I think this make things way easier for them because the underground’s could of had people only and get them moving faster underground. 

Today we took our first test and I froze up when I started the test . I think I took too much time reading the questions and picking out which ones I should do . I doubted my self through out the whole test because I kept debating which question I had more to talk about than others .  Once I did start I had already wasted so much time on explaining one question that I had to rush through the other ones . I honestly don’t think I think as well as I could of done . But making sure I re read the stories to freshen my memory on then would be what would be best for me to do on the next one . But I now know what to expect for the final .

So far in class we discuss a lot of cultural elements from the Victorian Era that we seen it self repeating in our time. But what I enjoy learning about was about child labor back then . I know it is not something I should like but I like learning about how the conditions and the treatments towards younger kids were . In my head the question “why would some one want to put their kid in situations like that and was it that bad for parents to not have a choice and send their kids out to work.” It also made me think how would things been if we had let this continue and have young children work like they did then . How would of things been different than they already are today . Seeing those pictures in class about kids who couldn’t even reach a top counter were at work , working with machine ten times their size was insane . But I love learning about the past to be appreciative about the things I didn’t have to deal with at that age .

The story “The Body Snatcher” was definitely creepy as crap . The whole story is weird because why would people even want to get death bodies . And as we talked about in class how they were people who did this as a job and would even steal dead bodies from graves . They made it seemed like it was more than just a job but more like a hobby . The weirdest part of the story was the end with the finding of a supposedly female who became masculine . The author did help created suspense because you would think what else would the the body snatchers do or would they even dare to do that. It was definitely a good story for those who wonder about things like that but I was kinda grossed out about just stealing dead bodies 

My favorite scary story involving dead bodies has to be from the show How to Get Away with Murder . It’s about several law students who grow a relationship with their professor. Once they find out some truth about the professor , the deaths began to happen a and the teacher gets involved with the students and helping them with the bodies . The characters deals with getting rid of bodies and having to deal with hiding their death making it seem like they disappear . It also involves several people and so it is fun to see who cracks first and tells on the situation they are in . But the thing is they keep getting away with the murders and it continues to happen over again . The whole show has a different character that dies and they all have to find way to get rid of the bodies .  

I believe that the fascination Holmes had with Irene Adler was just a weird obsession with her because no where did it say they were close or had any type of relationship together . That makes me think he was just overly obsessed . I think he fell for how she was and she beat him in his game so that is where the obsession came from . But once the truth came out and she realized who Holmes was he had lost her . I think Holmes attempts to get at her were long lost after she found out about him
