While reading “The Red Headed League” the way Sherlock Holmes is making he look like the coolest guy detective out there . He was always low key about everything he found and kept his thought to him self while working on the cases . He was so good at his job and what he was doing that it seem like no one would of found clues like he did in the story . John Watson made the story more interstellar though . He was not just a sideline for solving cases but he always helped and in the story was help in getting one of the bad guys . I think the author played the character out good for them to work together as a team and make the detective look good at doing his job .

in modern tv detectives I see Sherlock homes appear is mostly in law and order . The way he is describe and how he dressed up it makes me think of Olivia Benson from the show and how she’s dressed up . In law and order she always solves the case and she’s solves mysteries . Every detective seems to have that same dress code and I believe that is where the detectives dress code came about from Sherlock Holmes . It seems like every detective show or movie has some features like him. Sherlock homes would of influenced modern day for the his cleverness and how the reader always wanted to read more about this person solving cases like he was .

In “Rikki Tikki Tavi” the idea of the British culture spreading through the empire’s territories were seen as imperialism. The story showed how some natives were open to the new changes that were coming and how the English people did things . In the story you still have those animals who kept the traditional ways the same and saw the English family as a threat to their communities . The story does a good job about showing us how the mongoose was welcome in by the English family . The family saw things the animal was used to doing as something cool .

During the Victorian Era , freak shows , waxworks and magic shows were popular during that time . Some of the freaks shows were people who were born with some type of defects that we commonly see today but were stranger during those times . People who were born with two heads , dwarfs  or some one who had fracture skulls . There were also zoos that had animals that would not be common to see in certain areas and that is one thing we still have today . We can go to the zoo and look at animals that we wouldn’t never get a chance to see if it was not for zoos for have them . Wax museums are still popular today . Today there are famous wax museum that have famous figures there and people have a chance to get up close and see them .

The story “A Mad Tea Party” was had a different perception that what I first thought . When watching Alice in Wonderland you don’t think of that part in the way the story made it seem . Besides thinking the movie was oddly strange because of the character I realized the importance of that part of the story . The story of “A Mad Tea Pasty” was actually about politics . And looking back and analyzing line from the story it all made more sense. How during that time politics wanted to make things look better than what they really were . The surprise I got from the story is how the author made the story out to be . what made everyone think about a simple tea party it had a bigger meaning to it .

The retail therapy during the Victorian Era was based of fashion trends. Women had their clothes made for them for match the trend of that week , month or season . It was a season in London that only last few months . It went from Easter until August . because of fashion magazines showing the trends they were on then , it made many rich women want similar clothes they showed and get them hand made specially for them . Those who were not as fortune as the wealthy people had to get their dresses or clothes from places where they were already made . In today’s society retail therapy is still the same as it was then . Everyone wants I have the newest trends. Whether it’s clothes , shoes or hair styles . We see other people fashion and have other would want to copy their styles . Also today people go on their retail therapy just to make them happy . Shopping and buying new clothes makes people happy knowing they have new things to wear and go on with fashion trends that they are going.

In the picture of the “Hastings from the Beach” we see women swimming fully clothed. The are literally clothed from head to toe in the water . It does seem like they are swimming because they seem to enjoy it because you have someone ladies laying in the water. After reading and realizing that was their bathing suits made me think during this time how conservative they were . They did not show much and still went out to enjoy a morning for a swim . You can not really tell the time of year from the picture . You would guess it was winter from just looking at the picture and their attired. Today our bathing suits are completely different from their. Back then they also have carriages where these ladies could of changed in to their bathing suits and gone out further into the sea for them to for a swim .

In the story “ Goblin Market “ the fruit in the 21st century can have more than one meaning. What I got from reading it , the fruit can be related to Adam and Eve . The fruit can symbolize evilness. When the devil tempts eve with fruit and then things weren’t as pure as how they first were . Laura and her sister can also symbolize purity so when she eats the fruit it takes that away from her . Afterwards things weren’t as good to Laura. This can be related to 21st century because sometimes there are men who can sweet talk women and make them believe them things no one else has said to them . One they had sweet talk them and make the last believe what they take advantage of the situation and later forget what they had said to the women at first .

One of the major causes for the increase in prostitution during the Victorian Era was there was more women than men . England’s population double fast . The were many poor working class people who needed to find jobs to earn money for their families and necessities. With there people more women than men , many women had to find jobs to survive for themselves . There was more people than jobs so people began to struggle . Single mothers found a way to prostitution that can make them more money than other jobs . That was there go to . This was the only way the would survive . Today things are some what different . People still see prostitution as a problem and blame women who do prostitution. In the Victorian Era it was seen wrongfully for them to work like this because upper class women didn’t have the need for this. They saw women lose their value . Today women have more options than prostitution. They are better jobs and better pay for them to choice from and not have one option only .

Each artist has their own personal art style. With this they live on the own world . Many artist are seen different from those who are not artist because they see things differently than us . Artist have an eye for things and they view them differently. It’s harder for them to be comfortable in what we can bring normal . They are not normal . Many are free spirited and might practice different religions or find importance in things we don’t . Some articles are not very social and prefer to stay to themselves or with other artist they feel comfortable with . The reason for that is people who are not artist seen them as weird or odd because of what they do . Artist try to fit into our normalcy . But what they failed to realized that that’s the reason why are successful artist for seeing things in a different prospective way others wouldn’t until someone points it out. In “The Lady of Shallot “ the main point is to stay focus in art because it’ll be a distraction from seeking normalcy.
